Start Here (WooCommerce)

Download, install, and configure the ePAL plugin for WooCommerce.

Important:

This plugin connects to an API to obtain information about tax, customs duties, shipping and product classification as well as Tax IDs. This uses the information you specify in your Plugin settings and your store’s checkout. This service is provided by ePAL Global.

Before you Begin

  • Review the minimum requirements:

    WordPress 5.0 or higher
    WooCommerce 4.0 This has been tested up to 8.5.
    PHP 7.4 or higher. This has been tested to version 8.2.
    MySQL/MariaDB Version 5.7 and 10.3 and higher.
  • If you have a Tax ID, you need to read about the type of Tax IDs that are compatible with the service. For more information, see B2B and Tax ID Validation (WooCommerce)
  • If you are outside the EU, you may want to consider using IOSS. For more information, see Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) (WooCommerce)

About this Task

ePAL provides a Guided Installation wizard to help you get up and running quickly.
Tip:

To access this guide at anytime, you can click the ePAL Onboarding tab or you can click the Start ePAL Onboarding button.

Steps

  1. Download the plugin from https://epalglobal.eu/downloads/.
  2. Upload the plugin into your WooCommerce installation.

    Open the Wordpress Admin Panel and click the Plugins tab. Click Add Plugin > Upload Plugin > Choose File. Select the file that you downloaded in step 1.

  3. Activate the plugin.

    Click the Plugins tab. Under ePAL Integration Plugin, click Activate.

  4. Start the Guided Installation wizard.
    To start the wizard, click Setup. It consists of 5 steps:
    • Enable Taxes & Calculations: Enable the settings that allows the plugin to help with tax calculation.
    • API Credentials: Create a user or connect your existing user.
    • ePAL Tax Configuration: Complete the settings for tax.
    • Shipping: Complete the shipping settings.
    • Product Configuration: Create your product configurations.
    Tip:
    Each step turns green once it is complete. To skip a step, click Skip.
  5. Complete the Enable Taxes & Calculations step.

    Ensure that the Enable tax rates and calculations checkbox is selected. Click Next Step.

  6. Complete the API Credentials step.
    You can create a new ePAL user or you can sign in using an existing one You can proceed in one of the following ways:
    • If you have an existing user account from the ePAL Portal but have not yet retrieved your API credentials, you can enter the email and password and then click Login and Get Credentials.
    • If you want to sign up for an ePAL account now, complete the Email, Password, Full Name, and Company Name fields. Then click SignUp.
    • If you have an existing users and have already retrieved your credentials, you can enter them in the Client IDand Client Secret fields.

    Once you have successfully signed in, you may need to reload the page when prompted.

    Tip:
    You can click the Test Connecton button to ensure the connection is working. You can also test your connection to Shippo, if you has been configured.
  7. Complete the ePAL Tax Configuation step.
    CAUTION:
    If you choose price-inclusive prices, you need to ensure that the tax rates are specified for your products.

    Complete the following fields in the table. Details are provided in the Settings Tab (WooCommerce) topic.

  8. Complete the Shipping step.

    You can specify your shipping address and validate it in this step:

    This step consists of 3 substeps:

    Click Finish Setup.
